@Villager Thank you for bringing "Am I Not Human" to my attention. Homelessness is one of those issues that can get lost in all the other issues in this world. But, I feel like you I could easily be in that position.

The project in Sacramento is wonderful and the mayor is definitely worthy of honor for actually trying to help people going through this.

That is something all of us could try to do. It would definitely make us more appreciate of what we have by seeing first hand what others experience.

And your case goes to show that the homeless are not always people who have put themselves in this situation or just vagrants who don't care to work. It literally could happen to any of us. I think if more people realized this they would be a lot more considerate of other peoples

I was reflective after reading your article on homelessness. I don't often think of the homeless. Only when it is so cold outside that my teet are chattering as I unlock the door to my house, and once inside, proclaim "I'm glad I'm not homeless." I can at least volunteer at a soup kitchen this holiday season. Its the least I can do. Thanks, Gigi

Thanks for blogging about homelessness. If not for my sister's couch I could've been without a place to lay my head. One son was a baby and the other eleven and we lost our apartment because my son's dad was misusing drugs. Many women find themselves in this position. They help a child, or love a man who's not doing what he should and lose everything.

This is a great article Toya! I must say that this is a very important issue for me. Here in Sacramento there is a group called SafeGround Sacramento. They are doing their best to fight the camping laws that plague the cities. It’s bad enough that people are homeless, but when their constantly woken up by the police to move along or to get another camping ticket that’s double the headache.
