Google has again found a way to transform the search engine into a even more necessary part of what we as bloggers do. It has made search results even more efficient. Taking a page from Twitter’s playbook they have introduced real time search results so that you can be even more up-to-date to what is being talked about around the web.
Twitter users have had the advantage of real time search for quite some time now, but Google has expanded it to a wider audience. All of the internet. What does that mean for you and your blog? A whole lot.
With the whole of the web having access to the who, what, why and how often everything is happening on the web it can mean a great deal of traffic to your blog. Here’s how:
Average web user moseys on over to Google Realtime to find out what is going on with the stock market for instance and through a quick search they can find out up to the minute what is being said about it.
Again, what does this mean for your blog? In the results just like on Twitter there are links to various posts and articles on the Stock Market. If this was your blogs topic any time one of your links is shared there is the potential for the web users search to lead them right to your blog.
This differs in Google’s normal search method where Search Engine Optimization (SEO) plays a role in where your site is indexed or can be found when your blog’s topic is searched for. Many times depending on how prevalent your topic is your site may have tons of competition and be the low man on the Totem Pole so to speak resulting in very little search traffic.
Google has created an opportunity to provide a more level playing field for sites, but it depends on the amout of effort you put into the promotion of your posts. A few weeks ago I presented a challenge to promote your posts on Twitter up to five times a day.
Have you implemented it?
Now would be a good time to put it into practice if you haven’t already and see how Google Realtime can bring more attention and traffic to your blog.
