Finally making “The Move”

25 Feb
2010

I am finally making that transition from Blogger to WordPress. For a person who has zero experience with this it has been a challenge but a great learning opportunity. When I say a great learning opportunity I mean I have shed a few tears, pulled a few hairs out, called upon my knowledgeable friends and have finally reached a level of semi understanding. Honestly, it isn’t that bad. I am looking forward to the switch with the hope that this place that I get the privilege to express myself and get to hear your expressions as well will be much better.

I am hoping to have the transition completed very soon (the first of next week)so please be patient with me. That’s code for “please don’t leave me”. I sincerely appreciate all of you who take the time to read Tales of a Literary Nobody. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. See you on the other side :)

Thanks for your patience,

Literary Nobody

I won’t leave you! Good luck with the transition. I must say, you are tougher than me…I was going to do the same thing but couldn’t get the HTML to work and gave up! So guess I’ll stay where I am :)

  • JNicole

Good luck w/your transition. I’ve been debating making the move bc WP has such cool features that can be integrated into blogging, but I’m entirely too lazy to actually follow through on it, haha!

  • Literary Nobody

Aww thanks Jeannie. LOL believe me I have thought about it a couple of times but now that I have some idea how to do it it is a little easier. But my brain seriously hurts now lol. Also, if you decide to change I can direct you to some helpful resources.

  • Literary Nobody

Thanks for the comment JNicole lol. I do love the WP features so I am excited about using them. I’m on the lazy side too lol but I am going to do my best with the switch.

  • Yve

Ok maybe I’m just not that technically savvy but I’ve found blogger to be easier to use than wp. What features are so great about wp that I’m missing?

  • Literary Nobody

Hey Yve thank you for the comment :) There are so many great features in WP that they are really too numerous to name but just about anything you might want to do with your blog WP has a plugin that will do it. I like the many plug ins that help with blog SEO. Plus the templates are more functional. If you’re thinking of trying it, it would be good to set up a WP blog and just use it to look at the many features it has.

Yay screaming jumping up & down. You made and your alive. Go LN!! Heres a tip only add one plug in at a time for wordpress. Plugins if they are not coded good can break your site. I know my site is down :( But its half way back up. Has been down for almost a month. Here is a site that may help you http://www.wpbeginner.com/

  • Literary Nobody

LOL thanks for the comment MD and thank you so much for the tip. Sorry your site is down right now ;( Hope it’s back up soon.

  • Execumama

I got you!!! Will follow. I considered that switch and TOTALLY punked out, so you be strong for us both, ya heard!

  • Literary Nobody

Thank you for the pep talk Execumamma :) lol. Okay you were prepared to go meatless with me although I haven’t completely gone meatless. I’m a flexitarian. You can do this with me too lol. No, just kidding. It’s a decision that I guess you have to be committed to making but I am hoping it will be better for me in the long run. Thanks for the support!

I opened an account on WP and tried to get started.…I thought my brain would explode — lol!! The look there is a lot “cleaner”, crisp and professional.
    Good luck…can’t wait to see!
