Today on Twitter many noticed the trending topic: 기다릴게 박재범 기다릴게 2PM. Now for those of us who don’t speak or read Korean we were baffled. But, here is what it is all about. Translated it means, “We’ll wait for you Park Jaebeom. We’ll wait for 2pm!” Now to some, this may make no sense, but to those who are trending this, it is a very serious subject.

Jae-beom Park, or Jay Park, is a 22-year-old Korean-American born and raised in Seattle Washington. He was the leader of a wildly popular Korean boy band called 2PM. He suddenly left the group in September and returned to the US after articles surfaced about negative comments he made about Korea back in 2005.

Here is news coverage from Seattle about the Korean superstars return

Much hype has surrounded his departure and this is just the latest. Fans around the world have banded together in an attempt to get him to come back to the band 2PM. Some say the current trend is a marketing scheme by Jae-beom supporters others say it is just the passionate pleas of 2PM’s fan base collectively referred to as the Hottest, named by JYP Entertainment, the groups record label.

Either way, I did find this story interesting. I don’t usually cover things that involve boy bands, but the nature of this story points to how the Arts via whatever medium has a profound effect on people. So, for their sake, I hope you go back Jae-beom.

Thanks for reading,
