Alright ya’ll, two whole weeks with the churren (children) home all day brimming with their infectious enthusiasm. but you really one a little bit of quiet or you have work to do. I love my children dearly, but they tend to get rather bouncy when I’m trying to do work. I wrote a post a while back about freelance writing with children because of this very thing. As a kid myself when I imagined writing my great novel I was in a large office that was quiet and surrounded by walls covered in books. My reality is not even close.
When I’m working sometimes I have kids running through the house, sitting on my lap and demonstrating cartwheels. One time I had one blowing bubbles directly into my face while I wrote. She said: “Look Mommy” and when I looked back at the screen I had typed, “Look Mommy”. This happens all within the parameters of my small living room/classroom/dining room/office.
So when I got a chance to try Acu-life Pro-fit Earplugs, I was ready. Reason is, I have tried to use earplugs in the past, but I didn’t like the quality of them and I had to replace them all the time. Earplugs honestly are the only way at times that I can truly get a quiet environment to write because there is always something going on in this house. Not that I need them all the time, but when I do I’m glad I have them.
In all honesty I especially like these. I know you say earplugs..boooring, but these were unique. They are custom molded ones. You combine these two soft putty like materials, a turquoise one and a white one (my fave colors by the way) and form it into a ball and put it inside your ear to form the exact shape of them. They harden after ten minutes and then you’re good for six months. Acu–life provides a little pouch marked left and right so that you know which one goes where.
I liked the fact that it wasn’t dead quiet, but it did drown out a lot of the noise. I want it to be quiet but I don’t want it to be so silent that I can’t hear if my children need my attention. But, I could actually hear my own thoughts. So if you have to use earplugs for work, sleep, or just to create a quiet environment like I do these are a good investment.
