Bloggers, Let’s Unite Against Violence

After hearing the news about five-year-old Shaniya Davis, I am fed up with the violence. It is a terrible tragedy that we live in a world where these types of crimes are even an issue.
As bloggers, we have a voice that we can use to raise awareness to the problem of violence. Let’s pledge to post about violence at least once a month while making an effort to promote non-violence in some way in our daily lives. Let’s make an effort to show our solidarity over this problem by displaying this banner on our blogs:

Join the cause and spread the word. We have a voice and let’s raise it unitedly against violence.

Thank you for this post, Toya! I’m not sure if I wanna commit to blogging about violence once a month (will depress me) but I will definitely add the badge to my blog. So sad what happened to Shaniya D. We have to do better — and stop worshipping money. When someone is in need, let’s help them..because the mother was obviously desperate for some help from someone.

Thnak you for your comment Jara. I understand that about not wanting to blog about it once a month but we can raise awareness. It is a horrifc tragedy what happened to Shaniya. What’s worse is that she is not the only one. Around this world this happens. Money is at the root of this. This woman (her mother) had to be out of her mind to do this. I mourn for the future of our children.

Toya, I truly appreciate you taking the initiative and providing a means for us to do something to combat the senseless violence. It is truly empowering when you feel so powerless to make any meaningful contribution. Thanks for reminder me that every step, even baby steps are important when taken in the right direction. I have heeded your call.

Thank you for following Toya that means a lot. But this is not about me. We need each other as a people more than ever. Things are getting out of hand. People just can’t co exist with people anymore. Everybody is mad and for what? Many people have no sense of self. Parents don’t teach. Children can’t learn. Look at something so small as restaurants they are booming!!!! No one cooks anymore there for you don’t get that family time like back in the old days. Im not hating people need there jobs but there has to be a median. Thank You for that Post. Sometimes we all need a wake up call to what’s really important.
